Our Recommendations
1. Cocktail party - Two 7" plates
per person for each two hours of serving should be sufficient
for hors d'oeuvres. As an alternative, you can use toothpicks
or beverage napkins.
2. Sit down brunch, lunch or dinner
- One plate per person per course is usually enough.
A 9" plate can be used in most cases for the main
course as well as salads, however, some caterers prefer
the 10 1/4" plate for the main course as it holds
a lot of food comfortably. You can use a 7" plate
for bread and butter, side dishes or even desserts.
Use a bowl for ice cream or soup.
3. Buffet - Two to three 9" plates
per person, depending on how many hours your event will
run, should meet your needs. The 10 1/4" plate,
which is sometimes called a "buffet plate",
while comfortable, leaves a lot of room for waste. It
does, however, make a great serving plate.
As professionals for over 25 years, we have
learned that whenever you think you have ordered enough,
order 10% more, just in case.
